About
As a Kenyan-Indian-American woman, my cultural identity has shaped how I see the world. It challenges me to think about what it means to belong, and how to share stories that feel honest and grounded. It is my mission to create art that celebrates culture and documents the many hues of humanity. After pivoting my career in public relations to photography in 2020, I founded TEMBO TONES®, a photo and design studio, to serve leaders and storytellers of color in crafting impactful visual experiences to build their brands and businesses. My photography explores themes of multidimensional identity and slow living, with a focus on reclaiming the experience of black and brown people. Three years as a Founder, Creative Director and Photographer has taught me to value our ethos on human connection above all else. I believe in seeking to honor, understand and energize each other. In doing so, we allow our self-expressions to feel the most celebrated and thus, welcome an open mind to creativity and a deep willingness to take our art practices to the next level.
