For example, we've found that pediatrics and obstetrics are two areas in which EMS need more training, and are now working to find ways to improve their education in these two areas, using retroactive data from the NC PREMIS database system.

As a statistician at RTI International, I work on the data management, cleaning, analysis, and manuscript production for a variety of projects, primarily utilizing SAS and SQL software. Our partners include the NICHD, CDC, and Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. While my work sits in a public health space, the studies I specially work on include maternal and neonatal health outcomes, pelvic floor disorders, and in-hospital infection incidences. Along with my project work, I spent eight weeks in the RTI-Nairobi office as a recipient of the company's Global Rotation Program, where I had the opportunity to conduct data QA and Redcap data management system training to our Kenya team.
