About
I am passionate about saving and improving lives globally by contributing to meeting unmet medical needs through innovative science and technology and working with amazing colleagues. I am a biopharmaceutical industry executive with extensive experience over 10 different roles across process development, commercialization and manufacturing solutions for vaccines, biologics and pharmaceuticals, enabling annual revenues of over $40B. With a PhD in Chemical Engineering, my initial roles at Merck were focused on development and commercialization of bacterial and fungal fermentation processes. This was followed by a decade in commercializing and managing the technical aspects of the life cycle of Merck’s vaccine products. This role also included leadership of capital projects for cGMP manufacturing facilities, development of a new organization for commercialization of Merck’s sterile products and the development and execution of Merck’s sterile supply strategy. My next set of roles in small molecules culminated in the leadership of Global Technical Operations for Merck’s pharmaceutical manufacturing business. I accomplished the integration of technical operations groups between legacy Schering Plough and Merck, the rationalization of the internal manufacturing network through consolidations, localizations in emerging markets and divestitures with execution of over 100 tech transfers, CDMO development and oversight, and continuous improvements with savings of over $500M. For my last role at Merck, I led all of manufacturing science and technology across all modalities (vaccines, biologics, pharma) for commercialization and life cycle management for an Animal Health portfolio of over 500 product families with 100s of vaccine antigens. Learnings in this role included leadership in a fast moving, resource constrained environment, timely innovations to enable new product commercialization and COGs improvement, digital transformations, and the implementation of standard work processes to manage a rapidly growing business. Throughout these roles, I have been a strong champion of Diversity & Inclusion, through both leadership roles and external representation activities. I am known by my colleagues as a results oriented, innovative, people focused, collaborative, authentic, inspiring and inclusive leader that develops high performance teams in a cross-cultural environment. Going forward, I would like to leverage these skills to have a positive impact on healthcare, to enable the commercialization and access to life saving and life improving products.
