I teach a mandatory course in information science, ISI5703, Gestion des ressources informationnelles, in the Masters of Information Studies (MIS). This course provides an overview of the concepts and practices related to the management of information (including data and publications) throughout the information life-cycle.

While working in Operations, at CIC, I was involved in the implementation, and year-round operational support, of an international web-based client management service (FOSSWeb), and distributed computer system (CAIPS). I have acted in various project manager roles, as a senior computer programmer and business analyst in immigration. I also acted in the capacity of software release manager which implemented software updates following legislative changes and new initiatives from internal clients (Branch, Sector, and Minister's Office), international users (over 1500) and various other stakeholders (Canadian public).

Management of information across the department, overseeing the National Records office, the Policy, Best Practices section, the national capital region training and mailroom functions.

I provided leadership and direction on the implementation the national vision and strategy required to support the operationalization of the government-wide electronic document and records management system (EDRMS), GCDOCS.

On an assignment in the Office of the Librarian and Archivist of Canada, I provided essential administrative services related to the management of ministerial correspondence, office support and secretariat services to the Deputy-Head and Librarian and Archivist of Canada. I supported the strategic planning and day-to-day executive-level management of the department, and provided strategic advice on policy development and implementation to the Librarian and Archivist of Canada.

Working in strategic research undertaken to support Management Board decision-making and develop corporate policy with the objective of advancing the institution. As a recognized expert on information resource development, I provided advice and recommendations on the results of economic and socio-economic studies and their impact on LAC programs and services.

Project Manager in Web Content and Services coordinating publications to the website. I was responsible for developing and publishing authoritative content on the Web based on LAC’s documentary holdings. These included the Read Up On It website; the Evidence Web; Images Canada, through a partnership with several municipal and provincial stakeholders. I also provided advice in the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of a Federated Search project at LAC. The Federated Search project provides an integrated searching capability for databases (library catalogue, archival descriptions, and LAC'S Website), and won the GTEC silver award in 2006 for National Pilot Projects. http://hdl.handle.net/1866/14050 Memory and knowledge institutions (for example, libraries, archives, museums) face significant challenges in their responsibilities to ensure the long-term preservation of documentary heritage in the digital age. We suggest that social epistemology can support the development of public policy approach for documentary heritage institutions to identify Canada's documentary heritage in the digital age. Our research indicates that existing professional practice and objective knowledge remains persistent and limits the formulation and application of new theoretical frameworks, administrative policies and instruments related to the identification and selection of documentary heritage. To remedy this situation, our research identifies a conceptual framework that can be used to develop public policies on Canada's documentary heritage.
