In this work an envelope protection system based on optimal control technique, known in literature as receding horizon control with linear reduced model (linear-parameter-varying model) is proposed, to protect parameters such as rotor hub moment. In this way the protection system bases the action of limiting pilot command by predicting the parameter in a prediction window and calculating the critical control that allow to approach the envelope limit by minimizing a cost function. The RHC with LPV model technique offers the advantage to guarantee a temporal determinism (predefined number of operations to compute) for calculating the critical control in order to make the system suitable for real-time applications.
