I am an operations professional with 20 years’ surface and underground mining experience as a Shift Boss; Blaster; Mine Overseer, Production Manager and Pit Superintendent, who is a champion of the highest standards of safety and environmental behaviour and performance because getting one stage wrong leads to inefficiencies in all the following stages of the extraction process. In my opinion there is no magic formula to being a good manager, as I believe it really comes down to knowing what your employers goals are and then effectively using all available resources to achieve those aims. My #1 priority is to drive “Safe Work Performance” through clear and concise communication of associated procedures, appropriate tool use and task training. I am someone who can maintain a relaxed but hard-working site culture, and I contribute significantly to the growth and efficiency of the mine. Solid management skills include the ability to establish objectives, execute policy, manage and allocate financial and employee resources, monitor resources and manage department operations.
