I am an OHS Advisor providing safety and return to work advice to catholic schools (Primary, Secondary and Specialist) across Victoria, as well as conducting school safety assessments, risk assessments and facilitating safety training. I also work across various safety projects. I have been responsible for developing and implementing approximately 50% of the resources available on the Catholic Education Commission of Victoria's website (www.cecv.catholic.edu.au).

As Advisor - Safety and Prevention my main role involved providing health and safety advice to all work areas within council (this included all community based facilities as well as corporate departments), which included carrying out risk assessments, evacuation drills etc. I also developed a number of documentation as a part of my role such as emergency plans, manual handling risk assessments and worked on a manual handling booklet for staff as a part of a manual handling training program. I was also involved in the upgrade of council's incident reporting system, and responsible for regular reporting to EMT, Audit Committee and Council. My role also covered the Return to Work space, where I indirectly managed the WorkCover Administrator, as well as taking a hands on approach in end to end claims management. I took on the WorkCover function within my team during the last 6-8 months of my time at the City of Stonnington, and was successful in reducing 25 active claims to 9.

In my role I undertook risk assessment reviews, managed the incident reporting database, reviewed organisation wide Business Continuity Plans, reviewed school journey risk assessments, performed fire risk assessments, undertook site safety assessments and health and safety audits, developed health and safety statistics for senior management, provided health and safety advice and reviewed event health and safety documentation to staff within all levels of council, including schools. I was highly involved in the Rugby World Cup 2015, which was hosted in Twickenham through my involvement in reviewing Business Continuity Plans for all council departments, as well as assisting in the Emergency Control Centre.
