Here is why I’ve dedicated my professional career to metabolic health: → I’ve watched patients in their thirties die on operating tables. They left behind young children to grow up without Dad or Mom. → Others felt fine until their fifties of sixties. Until the day they felt a pain in their chest, it didn’t go away, and they wound up on my operating table. → I’ve also seen many survive, but without the quality of life they hoped for. They had to trade their golf clubs for walkers. Truth is, mainstream medicine doesn’t talk about it. The industry takes poor metabolic health as a given, instead of the silent pandemic it is. Metabolic syndrome is killing us, and it’s making life less enjoyable as we die early deaths. With over 40 percent of Americans now obese, and over half suffering from at least one chronic disease. We’re losing years of life — and the quality of life from those few remaining years. Worse, few doctors understand why this is happening. They blame genetics and recommend low-fat, low-salt diets. Yet as more and more patients end up on operating tables or pass away before age sixty from avoidable medical complications, it’s obvious we are treating the symptoms instead of the cause.
