Phil’s passion is architecture and light, predicting how an environment will feel, perform and relate to the humans using that space. Using light as a design element to help shape the space, create moods, promote physical and mental wellbeing. Done well light can help make a true transformation to peoples lives. Originally intending to teach, Phil entered the commercial world growing businesses through marketing techniques which sparked a passion for predicting people’s behaviour and the Neuro Sciences which under lie human perception. Phil has created a niche role as “black belt” to the lighting industry: For Example: ERCO Leuchten – Author, Coach and Trainer (1999-2003) Establishing a global learning Academy, establishing champions in over 21 countries to educate their staff and local architects in design and sales staff in a range of soft skills. Linkage Incorp - Consultant & Trainer for this Global provider in leadership and promotion of HR professionals. Interventions at The Bodyshop, NHS and training clients in coaching skills from the European Commission to WHSmith. Philips Lighting – Re-launch of Architectural Outdoor lighting for Europe (with global projects). Saw a 5% growth on Euro 100M with new facilities for demonstrating light in Lyon, running residential courses for design professionals and architects. Creating and hosting global events. WE-EF Leuchten. – Working closely with UK team in design and coaching of sales staff, helped create “liveable cities” from concept to completion for Global internet use…a series of inspirational ideas and interviews with leaders in the field of future city planning. WE-EF Australia included Phil’s input on road standards presentations and marketing publications. AL-Nasser Group. - Worked closely on design and launch of flagship retail showrooms across Saudi Arabia. Created bespoke training programmes for all design staff and a selection of champions to lead new design ideas. Also aided in the direct design of numerous Villas and commercial lighting projects. A close and warm relationship which still exists today. Now in a 3rd decade of professional lighting, consultancy and education, Phil helps manufacturers, lighting design and architectural brands to win projects and build high performance teams. In the future Phil aims to build upon his experience and passion for city lighting and Urban renewal projects as we see Cities change around us.
