Front-office software engineer for an equities trading desk. Major contributor to pricing, order entry, market data interfaces, risk management, user interface, post-trade analysis, research data management, build and deployment infrastructure. Heavily involved in performance monitoring and tuning of server-side systems. Sole developer for the desk from 2014-2017. Responsible for all maintenance, improvments and support until present.

Primary architect for the Electrotank Universe Platform, a framework for building MMOs (massively multiplayer online games) that sits atop the Electroserver 4 product. Refined the framework from being an extraction from a single project into something that was simple and elegant to build upon. Transparent extension of core entities via subclassing and Hibernate. Added declarative syntax for describing client/server messages with Java and AS3 (ActionScript 3) code generation. Created generic event dispatch system. Implemented questing system backed by a rules engine (Drools) using messaging passing (Jetlang) to manage task executions. Performance tuned entire codebase. Extended existing AS3 client to have domain-level abstractions to simplify client development Responsible for maintenance and development of the Electroserver 4 socket server. Implemented HTTP tunneling on the server for AS3 clients. Created C# client API. Architectural review and consolidation of the company's two AS3 rendering engines into a single codebase. Implemented on-demand generation of sprite sheets for 3D avatars in near-real-time.

Redesigned Radar's knowledge base to be capable of operating at internet scale (it was originally based on work from a desktop application). This included a cohesive component-based design for the application as well as modular services for deployment. Designed the overall architecture of the system. Performance tuned the application stack, developed novel database schema optimizations for n-tuple storage, created a non-blocking engine for querying the clustered data-store. Designed and built a web application framework for rapid development of applications against the semantic platform. Integrated monitoring infrastructure to enable visualization of key application statistics to monitor system health. Responsible for the semantic platform that the applications (such as twine.com) are built upon. Assisted product team in establishing agile practices in all areas of the organization. Provided constant feedback on process efficiency to enable rapid development of quality software.

Architect for system re-write moving from BASIC2C to a web application. Wrote custom O/R mapper to handle de-normalized database access to the legacy system for interoperability during the transition. System object model can be queried with XPath expressions and extended at runtime with custom attributes on any object type, as either an XPath expression to calculate a value or user-supplied data. The UI is built using Apache Cocoon using Jelly to act as the tag-lib processor. XML templates provide screen definitions, and are converted into a stream of SAX events that are processed with Java and XSLT to provide multi-format output. The software is deployed in an "appliance" model built on the Debian Linux platform. Wrote custom monitoring system that collects statistics from systems in the field and channels to a collector for graphing, analysis and alerting. -- The company sold in July 2008 to EFI for $20mm, a key attracting being the above software stack.

Migrated main product (Managing Partner) to Visual Basic from Microsoft Access. Added an object model to represent the database with a GUI layer communicating via DCOM. Also wrote custom software for clients using a similar model. Created object-based application shell for custom software products with plug-in modules for user-defined reporting, and security. Migrated file server to Linux machine running Samba. Setup router and internet connection and installed a Linux server to handle proxy/DNS/FTP.

Responsible for network of 40+ Windows PCs. Migrated server to Linux/Samba from WFWG 3.11. Upgraded LAN to switched Ethernet and connected to Internet via Frame Relay. Build intranet and created applications for internal use using Apache and mod_perl. Web-master for corporate web site (daily newspaper). Sole member of the IS department.
