In this position, my main task has been ensuring the quality of Bayer's clinical trial data. More specifically, I have: - built analytics tools for outlier and anomaly detection, e.g. for flagging potentially fraudulent clinical trial sites - built tools for identifying missing data - written advanced SQL queries to retrieve data from databases - done lots of R coding - designed advanced data visualization dashboards with Spotfire - led Agile project teams - participated in the GCP-validation of algorithms and dashboards - set up calculation workflows on Azure - provided user training and support - represented Bayer in cross-industry collaborations - overseen and coordinated work with academic partners and external consultants

IMPALA is an industry consortium of leading pharmaceutical companies with the mission to develop the next generation of tools and standards for quality management in pharmaceutical R&D. At IMPALA, I have represented Bayer and also led one of the consortium's work packages teams. Within the team, we have co-developed an anomaly detection tool for clinical trial data (Clinical Trial Anomaly Spotter - CTAS). The tool was published in December 2023 as an open-source R package (https://github.com/IMPALA-Consortium/ctas). Supporting Roche's clinical safety teams with advanced analytics. Tasks include: - provide pharmacoepidemology support to Roche safety scientists by analyzing real world databases - develop predictive models for identifying patients at risk of drug adverse event - design intuitive and interactive drug safety data dashboards - natural language processing of medical text corpora Additionally, I was the lead data scientist in our winning team at the 2019 Roche Advanced Analytics Data Challenge.

Design and optimization of data generation and handling processes for Roche's (pre-)clinical safety and discovery operations. My role included both project management and implementation. In addition, I provided data science decision support for bioassay and drug development teams. Particular examples of my work include the design and maintenance of a data dashboard for bioanalytical managers analyzing clinical data, and development of workflow tools to Roche's pre-clinical researchers.

Continued development of the biological and chemical data system which I built up for the Drug Repurposing team during my time as a Postdoc at Merz. Prediction of novel targets for launched drugs and drug candidates.

Chemoinformatician in a drug repurposing team. Main responsibilities were integration and maintenance of chemical databases and prediction of new indications for drugs and drug candidates.

Visiting scientist at the Computer-Aided Molecular Design group. Initially on a three-month visit followed by a number of shorter visits. During this time I worked on my PhD thesis on cheminformatics and also wrote a paper together with my hosts.

PhD thesis work on cheminformatics and molecular modeling. Performed virtual screening for various early-stage cancer drug discovery programs. Publications on analysis of virtual screening tools. I also occasionally helped the High Throughput Screening team in analyzing their results.

Small Finnish consultancy specialized in serving the domestic public sector. Design and implementation of a customized reporting tool for the company's consultants. After the initial development phase I was responsible for keeping the underlying database up-to-date. The tool was phased out after the company was acquired by a larger competitor.

Thesis work on gene expression differences of related nematode species (C. elegans and C. briggsae). Work included both wet-lab work (collecting RNA samples and measuring gene expression with microarrays) and analyzing the results.

Development of database-backed Visual Basic applications for the logistics industry. Part-time job during my studies.
