Kapou.gr is a panoramic imagery platform that offered, for the first time in Greece, street view coverage of its 10 largest cities - Developed end-to-end mapping pipeline: from vehicle sensor logging, to data ingestion, anonymization and indexing - Sourced, hired and managed a global virtual team to support project execution - Raised seed capital to fund the company - Mapped over 12,000 km of streets across Greece and Cyprus - Pioneered pivot to Augmented Reality applications because of EU's privacy concerns over street view imagery

GRASP Lab is a robotics incubator that focuses on fundamental research in vision, perception, automation, and machine learning - Researched panoramic camera-based SLAM approaches and published the results on IROS 2008 International conference at Nice, France - Supervised a 4-person team comprised of graduate students and research associates tasked with collecting omnidirectional camera datasets of urban environments - Research spun out into a street view startup

Researched walking direction estimation of pedestrians using Passive Infrared Sensors and Hidden Markov Models. Implemented proof-of-concept gesture recognition system for e-book readers using low-cost commodity sensors used in intruder alarms instead of costly precision sensors. Thesis: “Design and implementation of a 3D reconstruction system using a robotic-arm camera”. Implemented multi-baseline stereo reconstruction of static objects by manipulating a robotic arm with an attached camera. Technologies: C, CVS
