Actively involved in the redesign of coupling guard and fire protection systems for the enclosures, gaining experience in both manufacturing and finishing processes. Responsible for designing a terminal radial stud for the 330 & 450 Mega Watt Hydrogen cooled generator. Written design change instruction code for the 7FH2 and 324 Mega Watt Hydrogen cooled generators to revert the coupling guard assembly to eliminate the risk of fire hazard. Performed modal & stress analysis on BHR assembly of 7FH2 generator to find the natural frequencies and stresses on the assembly using Hypermesh as Pre & Post-processor and Ansys as solver. Used Pro/E for product modification, along with design and modification of parts for production machines. Designed a new lock plate for the use on Composite Gas Shield, for the bolts to be locked down to the proper torque. Developed layouts, part and assembly models, and manufacturing/inspection detail drawings for mechanical parts using Pro/E. Evaluate, incorporate engineering change orders, and construct bill of materials. Design and modification of parts and assemblies per engineering requests. Responsible for tolerance stack-up study on 7FH2 generator and 7EA turbine using statistical analysis tool which resulted in a cost savings of $33,000.
