About
Across nearly 30 years - from my first work consulting at Deloitte, then aviation, marketing, startups and enterprise / government work, and more recently across data, digital and AI - one thread has remained: getting better decisions out of data. Different industries, different scales, same lesson. Predicting what's coming is only half the job. The other half lies in optimising what you actually do about it. The blue line goes up, the red line goes down - but what's your best next move? Decision intelligence. Most organisations already have forecasts (even if they are shockingly bad). What's missing is the layer that turns a forecast into the optimal move, then uses self-learning AI agents to continue the interaction between forecast and optimisation - ensuring the best actions under the real limits of people, money, time and capacity, and just as often, knowing when to do nothing.Right now I'm applying it to rural risk - major issues like facial eczema, frost and biosecurity - where some kind of forecast may exist, but the farmer is still left to decide what they should to do with it in their paddock, today. The same thinking holds in any environment where a high-stakes call must be made under uncertainty and constraint - retail, energy, finance, utilities.Predict the risk early. Optimise the response. If that's your world too, I'd like to connect.

ruru
Auckland, New Zealand
A living system - a herd, a crop, a shoal, a bioreactor all behave nothing like a machine. Living ecosystems ebb, bloom and crash, and the damage begins out of sight. Before any sensors register and against a threshold that keeps moving. By the time the signal is clear, the loss is usually done. ruru forecasts that hidden state - catching a disease outbreak, a heat-stress loss or a failing batch while prevention still costs a fraction of the cure. Every call comes with its probability attached so the right person can understand and act on a change they can't yet see. We start where the loss is immediate and someone clearly carries the downside. We use the same maths to predict systems you want to improve rather than protect, turning averted loss into captured gain. Our system is built on the forecasting, optimisation and uncertainty methods our team of scientists are known for - a combined 50,000+ citations.
