Part time crop walking in North Norfolk for an independent agronomist, my duties included the identification of weeds, pests, diseases and nutrient deficiencies across a range of arable and break crops. The other part of my role involved laboratory trials work, with the growth of several common arable diseases on culture media and subsequent exposure to different concentrations and combinations of micro nutrients.

Land Management and Conservation Adviser, working with growers to adopt Environmental Stewardship Schemes (HLS) and improve the quality of Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI's). .

Part of my role was delivering independent agricultural/agronomic advice for clients of Paterson Ag, brokering fertiliser, seed and cropping contracts onto farm from our suppliers whilst also brokering Wheat, Barley and Oilseed Rape sales off farm to millers and exporters. The other part of my role was contracted out to JP Agronomy, in order to crop walk cereal and break crops in North Norfolk. This involved the identification of weeds, pests, diseases and deficiencies across a range of arable and break crops and the identification of appropriate spray programmes. This work also included soil sampling and trials work. I also carried out assessments for, and delivery of, Farm Environment Plans and Environmental Stewardship Schemes for land owners and tenants.

MSc project placement - Embedding sustainability into the the management and design of development projects. An industrial project placement as part of my MSc in the Environment and Sustainability team in Leeds, working day to day as a consultant on client projects and closely with the team ecologist carrying out Phase 1 habitat surveys and River Habitat Corridor Assessments.

‘Ecosystem services in sustainable agriculture: maximizing productivity and environmental benefits’ Currently undertaking a 3.5 year Waitrose and Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) funded PhD in Agriculture. Promoting increased strawberry crop production whilst reducing the reliance of the soft fruit industry on conventional production systems; reducing synthetic inputs such as fungicides and fertilizers. My main focus has been on Pollination, Mycorrhiza and a reduction in Fertigation inputs.
