Paul Lange

Paul Lange’s current work is informed by a storyteller’s eye for beauty and form, honed over his years as a fashion photographer with credits in Vogue, Bazaar, Mademoiselle and the New York Times, amongst other. Inspired by a playful irreverence for the expected, he is known for his sensuous lighting and for the energy and life he brings to all his portrait subjects– human, flora and fauna. His largest work, titled “Fifty Acres,” is a multi-year study of one bucolic farm and garden estate in the Hudson Valley, owned by renowned NYC florist, Zezé. It encompasses four ongoing photographic series: Big Blooms, Fowl Portraits, Paradisus and Disturbed Paradise. For Lange, each of these functions as a different form of exploration within the greater context of the landscape and the creatures which occupy it, infused all the while with his love of formal portraiture, a painterly eye, and an elegant wit. Paul Lange’s photographs are much sought after and are included in prominent art collections worldwide. A new series of photographs: “Big Blooms: Orchids,” is featured in a solo exhibition at the Chicago Botanic Garden Feb 10 - Oct. 28, 2018
