Helped highly motivated and talented people prepare for their Peace Corps service in Paraguay.

Authorized in 1964, AmeriCorps VISTA is a federal anti-poverty program administered by the Corporation for National & Community Service. VISTA provides full-time volunteers (VISTAs) to non-profit organizations and local agencies to strengthen programs that bring individuals and communities out of poverty. VISTA members support anti-poverty programs by building the capacity of organizations serving low-income communities; encouraging volunteer service; and generating the commitment of private sector resources.

Formerly C3, Inc.) Trained Coast Guard Search and Rescue, Drug and Human Trafficking Interdiction, Port and Waterway Security teams (on computer operations).

Served as the Office of Information Technology's technical lead in the design and implementation of the Corporation's largest software development initiative to date (eGrants), coordinating the comprehensive requirements analysis, design review, and monitoring the development, user testing and implementation.

Managed a 30 person Unit that screens, qualifies and places over 3,900 Peace Corps Volunteers per year in approximately 70 countries worldwide. Supported and provided guidance to 3 section supervisors and their staffs; Directed, facilitated and participated in interdepartmental working groups to evaluate and redesign systems and processes, and to prioritize agency information technology initiatives. Examples include: Leading a team to design and implement changes to the Volunteer Delivery System; Participated as subject matter expert (SME) on team to redesign Peace Corps programming guide for overseas Program Managers; and appointed to lead assessment team for the Peace Corps Response in Venezuela.

Served as Deputy Director for the Peace Corps/Ecuador program. Supported five program officers who supported 150 Peace Corps Volunteers in Health, Education, Natural Resources, Youth Development and Agriculture. Supported the Peace Corps framework of involving local communities in determining how to best leverage the skills that PCVs bring with them in meeting their needs.

Served as an Extension Agent with the Paraguayan Agricultural Extension Service. Organized 4-H Clubs and learned from rural small farmers while attempting to impart improved production practices in cotton and horticulture; Established lasting relationships with resourceful, hard-working Paraguayans; Lived and worked without electricity, running water and disposable containers. On a related note, produced less than 3 Lbs. of trash in 2 years.

Manages the department responsible for maximizing and measuring the overall quality and impact of the VISTA program. This is done by developing guidance and resources for the Corporation state office staff to help them select and support non-profit sponsors in developing projects to create or expand local capacity to fight poverty.
