Paul Berkbigler

This is my ongoing independent design and multimedia practice providing design and multimedia for print, motion graphics, interactive media, working in digital and traditional image-making techniques. P.Berkbigler Design & Multimedia LLC remains the professional practice that keeps me in touch with the current demands of design and media clientele, keeps my toes in the business world and supports an ever-expanding private collection of graphic design artifacts and ephemera.

Director of video planning and production within the Communication and Worship Arts Teams at Blackhawk Church. The position involved regular shooting, editing and motion graphic development that supported weekly worship services + a variety of ongoing ministry communication.

I served as the director of education for the Nebraska chapter of AIGA for nearly three-and-a-half years, coordinating activities and opportunities for design students and educators within the Nebraska regional chapter.

I taught digital imaging, layout & design, typography and graphic design history within the Department of Art faculty.

I coordinated client projects that involved student designers working on real-world design and illustration.

Courses taught: Drawing for Graphics I / II & Illustration I / II Providing weekly instruction in utilizing drawing as a tool for brainstorming as well as execution of design-related projects. Teaching illustration techniques and conceptualization to beginning and advanced students.

Courses taught: Sophomore Supplement & Junior/Senior Design Labs Principal instructor of weekly lab sessions covering a wide range of compositional and technical concerns including instruction in mock-up construction techniques, software tutorials, book binding demonstrations, as well as additional project critiques and reviews.

Direct assistant to the director and head designer of the Tyler Publications office; responsibilities included print and interactive design work in addition to office management, obtaining printing quotes, working with clients, and general administrative assistance.

Direct assistant to the principal designer and owner of Kilfoy Design, part of the Studio X collective. In addition to print, interactive, and motion graphic design work, responsibilities also included obtaining print quotes, going on press checks, client interaction and negotiations, general administrative duties and office organization.
