About
I am a Civil Engineer with extensive experience in both water and wastewater projects at all stages of design. I am passionate about the ways in which Engineering can improve the world especially for those who lack basic services. I have lent my skills to several engineering projects in the developing world where I worked under challenging circumstances to solve complex problems. My aim is to become a Chartered engineer working on Water, Sanitation and Health projects in the Relief and Development sectors.

water and sanitation for the urban poor
I am currently on an Engineers Without Borders placement working with the WASH focused NGO; Water and Sanitation for the Urban Poor in Kumasi, a city of 2 million people in Ghana. I am providing engineering support to WSUP as they co-ordinate the rehabilitation of the faecal sludge treatment works which serves Kumasi. This involves investigation of the current condition of the treatment works and providing both programme and technical support to the consultant carrying out the rehabilitation design work. I am also assisting in the development and implementation of a Quality Assurance system for the installation of household latrines under WSUP's and the city governments (KMA) compound sanitation strategy. This strategy is promoting the installation of private toilets within households to reduce open defecation by connecting landlords with approved contractors and financial institutions.

harrier safety team support
defence equipment & support (de&s)
Between leaving school and starting University I undertook a full time Year in Industry placement working for the Ministry of Defence as part of the Harrier Safety and Capability Team. My work focused on introducing a new system for managing airworthiness incident reports and training the team on its use. I was then responsible for ensuring that these reports were dealt with quickly and communicating the teams progress and any outstanding airworthiness issues to the team leader. I was also responsible for updating the aircraft's hazard log and integrating data provided by an outside contractor.
