Am presently on a break from Bethany, but for several years counselled bereaved people individually and in small groups, as well as facilitating groups of bereaved people, added to by my personal experience of bereavement I am well qualified to work with those bereaved.

Learnt the useful skills involved in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, much of which I have used n the past before formally training - finding it effective and practical in helping people move through difficulty in a structured way..

This was for some years a University training practice for medical students and GP Trainees. I was part of the Administration here and involved with patients, doctors, lecturers, admin. staff. A busy place, one where I learnt a lot about people to great breadth and depth and which experience has enriched my counselling career.

I have worked for several years voluntarily with Beginning Experience, as an individual, a facilitator, and member of committee. This is deep work with people coping with the work of recovery after loss of partner through death, separation, divorce - it is very effective and I have learnt a great deal about loss and recovery, from being a member since my own widowhood.

Learnt the very practical work of Choice Theory and Reality Therapy, likely the most useful of my counselling/psychotherapy tools.

Member of IACP, IAAC and Affiliate and Counsellor with Optum International Clients seen at The Healing House, Dublin 7 and at Kairos Counselling Centre, Dublin 12 I work with clients who are depressed, anxious, stressed. Who are being bullied, are struggling with recovering from addictions, have relationship problems at home or at work, who are lonely, bereaved or have lost a partner or someone close through separation. Those who are suicidal or dealing with suicide of a relative or friend, those who are anxious about big and sudden changes in their lives. Student counsellors welcome. With Bio-Energy, I work to clear bad energies, thus making room for good energies to enter the system and help the body to start healing itself. It is a powerful therapy.

At College I would have loved to be fully involved, but as a mature student I was running a home and family, also a part-time 3.5 day week job. So Dramsoc had to do without me, I did not even get to see the plays they held. Alas.
