rio tinto sub contractor
I am currently working in a fly in- fly out role as a sub- contractor to Rio Tinto at Karratha and Dampier Industrial and Port Operations. The majority of the role consists of maintenance, service and installation in a broad range of electrical fields, including power, lighting, phone/ telecommunications and various industrial work/s. This job has further strengthened my experience in maintenance on large scale residential, commercial, industrial and mining operations. I thoroughly enjoy the challenge and the high standard of work Rio Tinto expect from their contractors. I respect and adhere to the high safety standards Rio Tinto demand to ensure the job is done correctly and safely.

Whilst working in Graphic Design for Schneider Electric (previously TAC Pacific), I was offered an electrical apprenticeship with the outcome of a Certificate III in Electrotechnology (Electrical Licensed Mechanic and Fitter). I completed this apprenticeship and was employed by Schneider Electric as a service installation technician. The majority of the work was on building management systems (BMS).

downer
I was employed by Downer in a Fly in- fly out role based in Karara, in the infrastructure and setting up of an iron ore mine, with 16 days straight followed by a 5 day rest and recovery period. Here I also worked in a team, which I found educational as well as fulfilling. The tasks involved were in the area of instrumentation and included a wide variety of tasks including: cable pulling, installation of ladders, crimping and lugging HV and LV cables for a transformer, maintenance and service of crushers, conveyors and mining equipment and earthing of transformer bays. I also performed the task of cable splicing fibre optic cables and installing cat. 6 cable networks in the head office on site. Whilst I enjoyed the work and found it a great experience, I had just arrived from Queensland at the time, and for personal reasons had to relocate back to Perth, with the intention of returning to the mining industry in the near future.
