About
Currently, I am a biomedical engineering PhD candidate at Tufts University studying the use of near-infrared spectroscopy to image breast cancer patients. I have performed optical imaging scans on over 150 patients and analyzed the data to characterize breast tumors and monitor response to neoadjuvant chemotherapy. I hope to pursue a career working in a healthcare focused company and have a specific interest in oncology. Being involved in patient focused projects is one of my top priorities and I look forward to using my communication skills while working in a collaborative team.

* In my graduate studies, I focus on translational research using near-infrared light to image breast tissue. Specifically: * Image breast cancer patients with broadband optical mammography to characterize changes of blood, water, and lipid content in tumors compared to healthy surrounding tissue * Develop MATLAB image processing code for patient datasets to visualize functional changes in the breast * Investigate the hemoglobin saturation, an indicator of tissue metabolic activity, and the concentration of blood, water, and lipid as markers for breast cancer detection and patient response to therapy * Apply statistical analysis on hemoglobin saturation images to differentiate healthy patients and patients with benign or malignant lesions based off the quantified bilateral breast symmetry * Determine which optical parameters monitored throughout chemotherapy will best distinguish pathologic complete response from non-pathologic complete response
