Environment, sustainability and disaster risk reduction Specialist, Strategic Planning, Operations and Policy (SPOP) Division, Latin America and Caribbean Bureau, Global Affairs Canada 07/2016 - 08/2019 Duties and Responsibilities: - Provide strategic policy advice to senior management (Director to Minister level) on issues related to environment, climate change adaptation, mitigation and resilience, green and blue economy, food security, renewable energy and disaster risk reduction in the Americas. - Prepared briefing materials for senior management, including ministers. Coordinated consultations with numerous Canadian divisions and missions. - Developed and coordinated high-level multi-stakeholder and cross-sectoral events and consultations with the public. - Lead and ministerial coordinator of the fifth Regional Platform on Disaster Risk Reduction (Montreal, March 2017).

Duties and Responsibilities: - Liaise with Canadian missions around the world, the Prime Minister's and Ministers' offices and various stakeholders to develop, plan, coordinate and implement official programs and travel for inbound and outbound international visits. - Responsible for maintaining and analyzing projected budgets for each visit, hiring and contracting with local service providers, and accompanying Ministers and dignitaries on visits within Canada and abroad. - Provide advice on protocol and multiculturalism to senior management (from Director to Ministers).

Duties and responsibilities - Acting Deputy Director (February - April 2009) Managed a team of six Trade Commissioners - Facilitated entry to the South and South East Asia Business market for Canadian companies by connecting them with our funding and support programs, international opportunities, and GAC's international network of trade commissioners. - Drafted ministerial correspondence, produced briefing books for the Minister of International Trade's official visits to Asia, liaised with Ambassadors and High Commissioners, managed the budget, edited and proofread reports from headquarters and missions abroad. - Senior Trade Commissioner and advisor for the Canada-India Nuclear Cooperation Agreement.

Duties and Responsibilities - Established and maintained relationships between local establishments/service providers and the Canadian Embassy in Japan, including negotiating Embassy rates. - Senior Logistics Officer for Canada's participation in the 2008 G8 Summit: Liaised with the Prime Minister's Office, the Protocol Office, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, Japanese service providers and the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs to plan for the participation of the Prime Minister and his delegation in the 2008 G8 Summit. - Oversaw the development and implementation of more than 100 official visits to Japan, ranging from trade visits and trade fairs to ministerial programs, major receptions and events. - Built a team that grew from two to six employees to conceptualize and implement these visits. - Liaised with local and international partners to ensure that the program/visit best represents the objectives of the visiting dignitaries and advances Canadian interests.
