Orlando Ye

I am a third year Mechanical Engineering student at the University of California, Irvine, with growing experience in aerospace restoration and mechanical design. Currently, I am a student Empennage Engineer on the Flying Leatherneck Aviation Museum Curtiss JN-4D Restoration Project, where I collaborate with engineers to restore the tail section of a historic aircraft. My work includes inventory management, SolidWorks modeling, and fabrication of replacement parts, giving me valuable experience in both design and hands-on build processes. Through my coursework at UCI, I’ve developed a foundation in CAD, thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, circuits, control systems, and materials science. I’ve also strengthened my practical skills by building and redesigning projects such as the Walker Robot and an Anteater Formula Race Car in SolidWorks. My technical toolkit includes SolidWorks, MATLAB, machining, laser cutting, 3D printing, and circuit soldering/wiring am I am eager to add more to my skillset. I am actively seeking engineering internship opportunities where I can contribute my design, analysis, and prototyping skills while continuing to grow as a problem-solver in engineering.
