Onneile Maripe's appointment as a board member for JTTM Properties leverages her significant expertise in sustainability and corporate governance. A key part of her contribution comes from her advisory work, where she has already provided guidance on ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) requirements to a real estate company. She has also been involved in management discussions to develop a sustainability framework for a local real estate client listed on the Botswana Stock Exchange. This framework, which was ultimately approved at the board level, was aligned with the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB) guidance and relevant IFRS guidelines. Additionally, she led materiality assessments as the ESG Integrator at Debswana Diamond Company from 2022 to 2024. This background uniquely positions her to guide JTTM Properties toward continued growth by applying her knowledge of finance, corporate governance, and sustainability.

As an Independent Trustee for Stanbic Bank Botswana’s Pension Fund, I am dedicated to acting in the best interests of members and beneficiaries by ensuring robust oversight, governance, and compliance. My role requires that I ensure adherence to relevant laws, regulations, and the fund’s governing documents, while diligently monitoring both fund managers and service providers. This commitment ensures that the fund’s assets are managed responsibly and ethically. A key element of my responsibilities is upholding fiduciary duties. I actively participate in the review and approval of the investment strategy, ensuring that investments are diversified and aligned with our long-term objectives. This process helps to not only safeguard the assets but also to maintain a prudent and strategic investment approach. Risk management is another critical aspect of my role. I work to identify and mitigate various risks—including operational and governance risks—to ensure that the fund’s investments remain within acceptable risk tolerance levels while achieving strategic long-term outcomes. Ensuring transparency and accountability is paramount. I am committed to providing accurate and timely reporting to members, regulators, and other stakeholders, thereby promoting openness in the fund’s operations and decision-making processes. In addition, as an ESG and Sustainability Reporting advocate, I oversee the integration of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) factors into our investment strategy. My focus is on aligning the fund’s operations with sustainability goals and ensuring that responsible investment practices are central to our decision-making process.
