Omkar Santosh Tanpure

In my current role, I work at the intersection of 𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴, 𝗰𝗼𝘀𝘁, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗽-𝗳𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗿 𝗲𝘅𝗲𝗰𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 for automotive after-sales service tools. My day-to-day focus is on 𝘃𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗲 𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴-making tools better, faster to manufacture, and commercially sensible, without compromising OEM expectations. I am actively involved in 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗱𝗲𝗰𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀, 𝗽𝗶𝗹𝗼𝘁 𝗥&𝗗 𝗰𝘆𝗰𝗹𝗲𝘀, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 for new tools and batch production. With strong 𝗖𝗡𝗖 𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸-𝗳𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗿 𝗮𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀, I ensure that ideas discussed on paper actually work on the shop floor. I closely support automotive after-sales programs where 𝗰𝗼𝘀𝘁, 𝗱𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝗼𝗳 𝗱𝗲𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 matter the most. 𝗞𝗲𝘆 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 & 𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀: • Learned how to balance 𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗰𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗳𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 • Contributed to 𝗳𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗥&𝗗-𝘁𝗼-𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗰𝘆𝗰𝗹𝗲𝘀 through practical value inputs • Gained confidence in 𝘁𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗼-𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗱𝗲𝗰𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻-𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 for OEM-focused projects

This role was a real turning point in my manufacturing journey. As an 𝗡𝗣𝗗 & 𝗖𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗿, I was directly involved in converting ideas into 𝗽𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹, 𝗺𝗮𝗻𝘂𝗳𝗮𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗮𝗳𝘁𝗲𝗿-𝘀𝗮𝗹𝗲𝘀 𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝘁𝗼𝗼𝗹𝘀 for automotive OEMs. I worked closely with R&D, production, and procurement teams to 𝗲𝘃𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗽𝘁𝘀, understand machining feasibility, and prepare 𝗱𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗹𝗲𝗱 𝗰𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲𝘀 before moving into production. From pilot development to batch planning, I learned how every engineering decision impacts 𝗰𝗼𝘀𝘁, 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝘂𝘀𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆. Being on the shop floor regularly helped me connect drawings with reality-especially CNC processes, material selection, and process sequencing.

During this internship, I got a 𝗰𝗹𝗼𝘀𝗲-𝘂𝗽 𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄 𝗼𝗳 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲𝘀 𝗮 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗻𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺 𝗿𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗮𝗯𝗹𝘆 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝗲𝗹𝗱-material behavior. I worked alongside production and quality teams to understand 𝘄𝗵𝘆 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗰𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗮𝘂𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗼𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝘁𝗼𝗼𝗹𝘀, especially durability, wear resistance, and consistency. I was involved in observing and supporting 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗳𝗹𝗼𝘄 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗽𝗿𝗲-𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗽𝗼𝘀𝘁-𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗶𝗻𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, and learned how small parameter changes can impact tool life and OEM acceptance. This experience helped me connect 𝗱𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹 𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘂𝗿𝗴𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗯𝗲𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗼𝗿.

This role gave me my 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗼𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗮𝗻𝘂𝗳𝗮𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗿, beyond textbooks and drawings. As a manufacturing intern, I spent most of my time 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗽 𝗳𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗿, understanding how after-sales service tools are actually made, assembled, tested, and delivered to automotive customers. I closely observed 𝗖𝗡𝗖 𝗺𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀, tool manufacturing processes, and day-to-day production challenges. I worked with operators, supervisors, and engineers to understand how 𝗱𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻, 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗹, 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗼𝘀𝘁 are deeply connected in real manufacturing. This internship helped me build a strong 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸-𝗳𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗿 𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗱𝘀𝗲𝘁, which continues to guide my decisions today in value engineering and procurement roles.
