In this role I used negation and communication skills, whilst also upholding a presence over the phone to engage my candidates and clients. I also learned the importance of client outreach, securing roles to fulfil for high profile clients. The role also gave me experience working to a high standard under pressure to deliver against targets.

In this role I learnt core skills including feature writing, conducting outreach to clients and building strong relationships to help the magazine grow. Furthermore, I helped run the magazine’s social media pages, creating posts and stories.

During my work experience I was taught how to build news stories from both a journalistic and PR perspective, understanding story hooks and good press release structure. I was also able to get a good understanding of day-to-day life as a PR executive.

This role gave me strong first hand understanding and knowledge of a professional news room environment, as well as skills such as copyrighting and fact checking.

I attended workshops with Cathrine Philips, getting to learn about foreign affairs reporting first-hand. I also attended talks on AI journalism and the importance of freedom of speech in the 21st century.

A great experience to understand news reporting and how broadcast journalism tools such as PremierPro are used in fast paced environments. I also learnt technical skills backstage and onset.
