With 15 years in the industry as a senior Front End Engineer and Architect, I've combined the love of teaching developed by my involvement with Codebar with my passion for modern web development in a role that leverages both. * Led fast paced front-end development on promotional sites for Mercedes, Revlon, Jura Whiskey and NowTV (yet to launch). * Responsibilities: * HTML5, CSS3 and OO JS development * Additional work on Symfony2 components and Twig templating * Notable features: * Introduced Grunt–based tooling to improve productivity, code consistency and performance. * Flexible BEM-style OOCSS, RequireJS and Backbone architecture allowed for breaking changes to be easily accommodated.

* Led 8 developers building financial applications across desktop and mobile platforms for Fortune 500 clients. * Projects ranged in scale from AJAX-driven SPAs (Single Page Applications, e.g. Skandia’s Retirement Route Planner) to 300 page multi-process suites of tools. * Responsibilities: * Front- and back-end architecture * Development in Node (Express framework), PHP, MongoDB, PostgreSQL, JS, HTML5, CSS3 * Code review and developer tuition * Notable features: * Built RESTful JSON API and search engine consuming and normalising large data sets from 3rd party web services such as MorningStar (authenticated by OAuth... and speech-driven just for fun). * Introduced technologies (Symfony2, Silex and Backbone frameworks, SCSS and Coffeescript) and best-practice that saw a measurable 200% increase in productivity.

* Front-end development on the innocentdrinks.com rebuild * Responsibilities: * All CSS3 and JS development on a large, heavily stylised, AJAX-driven site. * Rewriting existing PHP to generate mark-up using HTML5 semantic elements. * Notable features: * Responsive layout across a range of resolutions (desktop and mobile) * Deep-linking integration via the HTML5 History API * Extensive cross-browser support (down to IE7) leveraging feature detection to progressively enhance the user experience. Employed polyfills and shims where native support lacking (e.g. CSS3 transitions and animations). * Introduced the use of SCSS as a means of accelerating development and successfully meeting challenging deadlines; it has since seen agency-wide adoption.

* Wide-ranging role at an aggressive start-up servicing a global bank. * Responsibilities: * Project management of teams in Brazil and Ireland over 24-hour development cycles. * Client-facing consultation on digital strategy * HTML5, JS, PHP and AS3 development * Notable features: * Creation of Backbone / jQuery-driven, Zend Framework-backed in-house QR code tracking and reporting app. * Established cloud-based back-up and document-sharing solution linking offices in Dublin and London
