I wore a lot of different hats here. I managed myAgro's US Finance and HR operations from their offices in Oakland, CA. This meant management of employee data in their HRIS, payroll and benefits administration, managing US bank accounts, writing policies, recruiting, and on boarding/off boarding.

I worked in employee communications during a time when the GoToMeeting product groups were splitting off and merging with LogMeIn. I had a few main functions, which included maintaining and writing blogs and other articles for our intranet, coordinating internal events for over a thousand people, and keeping track of all the associated metrics. I have never been as nervous to send an email in my life as I was at Citrix, because it was one of the first times I would send emails knowing they would hit almost two thousand inboxes. It was also a great opportunity to learn a lot more about the business side of SaaS. I spoke to a lot of directors of the different LOBs and got to write articles about new product features. It was a great experience, albeit short.

What didn't I do in Peace Corps? I joined because I wanted to understand what it meant to work in international development, and boy did I get my wish. As my title suggests, I worked as an English teacher for two years in a school of 550 kids, grades 1-12. I ended up doing a lot of public health and healthy lifestyles trainings and projects, in addition to teaching. I also helped co-found a boys youth leadership and development program, and a Model United Nations program for universities. Those were some of my bigger highlights, but there was a whole different side of learning a language and a culture that was completely unknown to me before I stepped off the plane.

I prepared and managed interview schedules for phone, web-based, and in-person interviews, including creating interview agenda, communicated with candidates and internal team members, managed all travel logistics, and other scheduling activities. In English, I was basically a primary point of contact for applicants to settle most of the logistics of the interview process. That also meant maintaining our applicant tracking system, doing reference checks, and posting jobs.
