About

I spent my career inside commercial banking finance, leading finance functions across large portfolios and sitting in the rooms where pricing, capital allocation, and relationship economics either aligned or did not. Over time, what I saw shaped a conviction. Banks do not have a pricing problem. They have a performance design problem. Strong results can coexist with fragile systems for years. The numbers hold. The design underneath may not. I wrote about this in Beyond Pricing, a playbook on breaking silos and finding peak performance in commercial banking. As a Q2 client, I lived the thesis in practice, deploying tools to bring relationship economics into origination and portfolio management, and watching what changes when measurement is embedded in the daily operating rhythm rather than reconciled after the fact. The experience was compelling enough to pivot. I joined Q2 to work at the intersection of what I know, commercial banking performance, and what I believe, the right software deployed with discipline changes how banks make decisions. My role now is helping financial institutions get this right. Durable performance is built through consistency, reinforced across cycles, not just in strong quarters.

Q2's Relationship Pricing & Profitability product line exists to help commercial banks move beyond pricing mechanics toward disciplined, relationship-level performance. As single-threaded leader of the business, I own product strategy, go-to-market, and execution for PrecisionLender, Market Insights, and Premium Treasury Pricing, Q2's products in this space. The work centers on a simple idea. Pricing and profitability tools earn their keep when they shape decisions before commitments harden onto the balance sheet, not when they explain results afterward. My focus is building the product and the go-to-market motion to make relationship economics a daily operating instinct for the bankers and leaders who use it, and to give the institutions we serve a measurable edge in how they compete for and price relationships.

This role carried two mandates simultaneously. As financial leader for a $3B Wealth Management unit, the work centered on building reporting discipline around client attrition, advisor productivity, and growth initiatives, applying the same performance design principles developed in Wholesale Banking to a different business with different asset classes and a different client base. In parallel, the role of co-executive sponsor for the U.S. Bank PrecisionLender implementation continued. Watching the platform expand into Private Banking confirmed something important. The discipline of relationship economics isn’t unique to commercial banking. The need for the same integrated measurement existed here, too.

This role shaped a decade of thinking about commercial banking performance. As Business Unit CFO for a $30B wholesale banking segment, the mandate was straightforward on paper. Build financial discipline into a business growing faster than its operating infrastructure. In practice it meant rebuilding trust in the numbers, redesigning how relationship economics were evaluated, and creating the operating rhythm connecting pricing, capital, and portfolio performance into a coherent system. The work produced results. Portfolio returns improved. Pricing discipline tightened, shifting from a discount to market to a premium. Forecast credibility strengthened. Exception volume declined. Informal processes gave way to structured, repeatable decision frameworks. PrecisionLender was central to this evolution. As co-sponsor and implementation executive, deploying the platform brought relationship economics into origination in real time, changing how bankers and leaders made decisions before commitments hardened into the balance sheet. The work pointed in one direction. The right software, deployed with discipline, changes how banks perform.

As financial planning leader for a Corporate Banking segment with roughly $50B in exposure, the work centered on decision support for senior leadership, budgeting, forecasting, capital planning, and financial analysis across acquisitions, geographic expansion, and divisional initiatives. The role built a foundation in how large banking organizations measure themselves, where reporting serves decision makers, and where it simply explains outcomes after the fact. The distinction between measurement as a management tool and measurement as a historical record would shape everything following.
