The BVMW represents the interests of the medium-sized economy in Germany across professions and sectors as well as independently of political parties. In addition to lobbying for small and medium-sized companies and the self-employed, the association focuses on networking among its members, e.g. with around 2000 regional events annually. Other association tasks are the promotion of entrepreneurial exchange with the aim of strengthening competition, e.g. to large corporations and foreign trade support. The BVMW has around 30,000 members (as of October 30, 2020), who are looked after by their own local offices nationwide. Membership is voluntary. In addition, the BVMW is represented by 80 foreign offices.

With a huge network within the political and economic world in Germany and Iraq I help strengthening economic and business ties between the two countries and promote trade and investment. I manage a five member team as the head of the German Liaison offices for industry and commerce in Erbil and Baghdad. I consult companies, NGOs and Iraqi and German ministries about doing business in Iraq or Germany (trading, investments, tenders, privatization etc.). Further I am in several committees to discuss and suggest changes of legal framework to the Iraqi government in order to strengthen German/Iraqi business relationships and enhance German investments in Iraq using my network within the German and Iraqi government and the private sector.
