Together with women and girls living in challenging contexts, Vitala Global Foundation co-creates open-access digital solutions to solve their biggest sexual and reproductive health challenges. Our first app Aya Contigo accompanies women in Venezuela through their family planning journey, providing them with an evidence-based, reliable, private digital resource to avoid unsafe abortions. Aya Contigo App is a progressive web app that can be accessed via web browser and can be added to the home screen. https://www.vitalaglobal.org/aya We had to make a strategic decision to build a PWA app over a native Android app. We went with a PWA app over a native app as it was cost-effective and faster to build. Key Accomplishments - Helped scale the business from 20 to 125 employees including casual employees - Built Finance, HR, and IT teams from the ground up - Implemented e-commerce (Shopify), marketing/sales (HubSpot), manufacturing/inventory (SkuVault), and payroll (Gusto/Wagepoint) software - Recruited senior leaders (VP Sales, Director of Marketing, and VP Operations) - Set up the manufacturing facility in the UK - Led the purchase and subsequent sale of a warehouse building which generated a significant gain. - Secured short-term and long-term financing As the company scaled we had decided to upgrade the software stack. The conventional wisdom was to go with an ERP system. The challenge with most ERP systems is it is very expensive to implement and is not very user friendly. I took a different approach and went with a best-in-class suite of SaaS software that did a great job for each department. We ensured all the different software was integrated.
