My biggest achievement is dropping the mask- Truth and Justice outrank introversion apparently, and I would rather be minding my own business- but I can’t. The can of worms was opened where it comes to Calgary Housing- they couldn’t just fix their mistake and let me crawl back under my rock- Oh well- the Charter, Human Rights and proper disability accommodations are the right of everyone not just the loud few who score fake accommodations. I’m the white woman who apparently has more rights with a fake exemption than actual indigenous tenants who, along with other tenants, still have not been properly informed about their rights under that policy. Calgary Housing and their emails with *sometimes* land acknowledgements- while telling indigenous tenants if they’re caught lighting tobacco for any purpose within their unit “14 day eviction notice”. Acknowledgements mean NOTHING if you don’t have the knowledge, understanding or a sense of basic empathy for those that your ancestors took everything from- And who are still being taken from. It’s invisible unless you live it- it’s baked into admin at every level- and it’s wrong. #silencehelpstheoppressor
