As a former Postdoc at Charité University Berlin, I focused on G-protein coupled receptors, specifically the melanocortin 4 receptor, which regulates appetite. My significant achievement has been capturing the appetite-inducing receptor state using cryo-electron microscopy. I have leveraged this to design potentially more effective anti-obesity drugs. My research toolbox includes molecular biology, membrane-protein expression, cell-based assays, and biophysical methods like fluorescence spectroscopy, cryo-EM and X-ray crystallography.
