Nicolas Boez

As a Principal Data Scientist, I balance hands-on technical architecture with team leadership. I guide the design of complex AI and Operations Research solutions for our clients, build internal engineering tools to make our team faster, and manage a great group of data scientists. Key Responsibilities - Delivering AI Solutions: I design and implement advanced machine learning and optimization models for clients across the transportation, aviation, and energy sectors. My focus is on making sure the math actually solves the business problem and scales smoothly in production. - Building Internal Tools: I lead the development and release of our internal coding libraries and apps. By turning project-specific algorithms into reusable, well-documented tools, I help the wider team deliver projects faster and with fewer headaches. - Leading the Team: I directly manage a team of 5 talented Data Scientists. Beyond handling the day-to-day staffing, 1-on-1s, and performance reviews, my main goal is to mentor them, remove roadblocks, and help them grow their careers.

Lead the development and implementation of AI solutions combining Operations Research and Machine Learning tools for the industry. Responsibilities - Define, deliver and communicate the scientific and technical aspects of projects. - Translate business needs and constraints into mathematical models. - Manage scientific and technical team members on the project. - Present Ivado Labs' work at different conferences (JOPT, CORS, ...) and take part in several master's courses (Polytechnique Montréal, HEC Montréal, ...). Example of projects - Development of several decision support modules for a multi-modal international logistics company, including several stochastic optimization modules to improve terminal productivity and container positioning at the terminal and strategic decision support models providing for example recommendation on how to answer to different customer requests. - Development of a decision support tool based on revenue management proposing price adjustments in an airline context. - Robust optimization of charging plans for a fleet of electric vehicles, to reduce energy costs while keeping the fleet running smoothly, even in the event of over-consumption or interruption of the electricity grid.

Resolution of a dynamic problem of vehicle tours in a parcel delivery context. - Use of routing optimization libraries (CP Optimizer and OR Tools) - Implementation of a constraint programming model corresponding to the problem - Development in C++ of a simulator reproducing drivers' days to study the model's behaviour - Analysis of model performance and comparison with the current system
