Responsible for setting and driving innovative antibody discovery strategy for Cancer Research Horizons, incorporating scientific and technical innovation. Core member of the Drug Discovery and CRH Leadership Teams, drive governance and decision-making regarding scientific portfolio support and technology development. Lead multidisciplinary high-performing teams to provide all aspects of antibody discovery expertise, including protein engineering, antibody screening, therapeutic antibody characterisation and optimisation. Create a culture of scientific excellence and innovation while ensuring an inclusive environment where people can thrive and perform to their full potential. Represent the department across a broad range of therapeutic projects and cross-site initiatives, both internally and externally. Providing scientific input and strategical guidance on early pipeline research. Responsible for designing a multi-collaborator research plan aligned with the technology, capabilities and long term objectives for target and TCR discovery at Etcembly. Continued engaged with all stakeholders (CSO, COO, CBO) to ensure project scope is aligned with expectations and company aspirations. Organize regular remote meetings with all stakeholders to ensure technology and capabilities are appropriately leveraged.

Responsible for developing the strategy and vision for TCR discovery activities. Management of both internal and external assets to ensure timely delivery of objectives. Support key asset support assets as they progress through target nomination and lead identification through to pre-clinical candidate selection. Coordinating the activities of different teams from various departments, reporting progress to stakeholders, assessing resource requirements and monitoring the competitive landscape. People management of scientist at various levels of experience (from scientist to principal scientist) where I ensure their continual personal development and success.

Lead a group of 7-8 scientist within the protein engineering division of Adaptimmune. My role also involves driving forward various internal programs and conducting regular project team meetings. As part of my laboratory role I am responsible for the development of different technologies within the company. The scientific skills used regularly include single cell PCR, RACE, SDM, cloning, protein expression, protein purification (ion-exchange and gel filtration) and SPR analysis.

Construction and screening of phage display TCR libraries to identify candidates against HLA targets. This method is by far the most powerful approach for molecular evolution of proteins and allows selection from large, diversified mutant libraries. Specificity ELISA screening and ‘hit’ characterisation via sequencing. Various biochemical methods are used to assess the selected TCRs. These include PCR, cloning, IB preparations, SDS PAGE, protein purification and binding analysis on Biocore.

Development of products from concept through to customer delivery, which includes the portfolio of ParaDNA products distributed by Life Technologies. Biochemical assay design, evaluation and iterative development. Scientific lead on multiple independent internal projects. Collaborating with various research groups on new product concepts for grant proposals. Design and management of a multiple site (US and UK) external validation study for the ParaDNA intelligence assay. Coordination of data flow and timely completion of objectives for regulatory approval.

Biochemical assay design, evaluation and iterative development. Design and produce products that meet the performance specifications, quality requirements and cost targets of customers. Ensure new products are introduced to the market on time. Conduct continuous evaluation and provide input to technical reviews during the development of new products. Produce technical and project reports for the product development team.Support and trouble shoot the introduction of new products and in particular pilot batches released to customers.

Monogenic diabetes research at the Oxford Centre for Diabetes, Endocrinology and Metabolism. Coordinate, plan and execute research within the scope of the existing research grant. Conduct and troubleshooting of a variety of methods including cellular and kinetic assays, Western blotting, immunohistochemistry, recombinant protein production and purification, tissue culture, real-time PCR and endpoint PCR, EMSAs, Agilent chip analysis, site directed mutagenesis, cloning. Assist in the day to day running of the laboratory and first line management of numerous research scientists.
