Nick Schoultheis
Product Development Engineer @ Hy-Tek Intralogistics
About
I am from a small farm town community in south-west Ohio called Okeana. I grew up on a beef farm and lure workshop where I learned what a hard day's work really meant. I received my Business Programming and System Analysis degree at Cincinnati State and saw the huge benefit of a technical school as opposed to the cost of a 4 year private school degree. I started my software path as co-op at the biggest international shipper in the world, DHL. There I learned to love the power that programming has to change the world and that one of the applications I make can be used, same day, by someone on the other side of the world. After my time was up at DHL for my internship, I went job seeking and found Intelligrated. The team I was apart of was at the forefront of the distribution and conveyance industry. My role served the company by traveling around America 70% of the year for the Major Systems project team, implementing conveyor systems for big customers like Amazon, Walmart, Home Depot, Lowes, Target, etc. I specialized in commissioning high speed merges and sliding shoe sorters. The role involved wearing multiple hats: Project management, software, electrical, mechanical, networks and concepts/estimations. Now, I find myself at an awesome role at Hy-Tek Intralogistics as a Product Development Engineer, utilizing my industry experience in robotics and software to help keep my company on the cutting edge of new technologies and distribution solutions. I, along with my team, are responsible for running our robotics lab, which includes a plethora of the latest robotic warehouse technology: Exotec, HAI Robotics, Geek+, Tompkins Robotics, MiR, UR and IntraOne our WMS, WCS, WES software platform. Projects: ------------------------------------ Asset Program ------------------------------------ *Built a relational and scalable Asset Database in SQL server in order to create a virtual container for records-keeping on over 400+ Handheld Radios, 250+ Handheld Scanners, and 75+ Wireless Printers. Each Asset is used/needed on each shift. *Built Check-In/Check-Out web-pages for each Asset type in ASP.NET C# at our facility to create accountability and to get away from a legacy paper sign-out. The system was set up by modifying a magnetic strip card reader to pull employee login info from a 3rd-Party badge and an RFID fixed reader pad. *Built maintenance and damage tracking web-pages. *Assets are encoded on passive RFID labels to enable a quick in and out process in 2-4 seconds. ------------------------------------ Checklist Management Program ------------------------------------ *Built relational and scalable database in SQL server. *Created out of a need to track productivity and activities of middle management by senior management. *Mobile-Friendly *Allows for senior management to create and assign items to checklist as well as assign users to a checklist.
