Member of a multi-disciplinary research team looking at the success of technology transfer from UK-based science to practical application. Participant in a comparative study in biosciences, artificial intelligence and robotics between Britain and Germany funded by the Anglo-German Foundation. Also part of a NERC-funded study into the effect of severe weather events on the UK economy.

Chaplaincy to the agricultural industry and Bishops' Adviser on Rural Affairs. Also Diocesan Environmental Officer. In 2011 I became Director of the Bulmer Foundation but continue to operate as an agricultural chaplain with Borderlands Rural Chaplaincy, a joint Anglican-Methodist chaplaincy team. I also exercised a regional role as Chairman of the West Midlands Rural Affairs Forum, the West Midlands representative on the All-England Rural Affairs Forum and Chairman of the English-Welsh Cross Border Strategic Forum.

Representing the NFU and farmers' interests on a wide range of rural issues including planning, legal and rural policy

Food Policy and Research Adviser, National Farmers Union. Acting as a specialist adviser to the NFU on the question of food policy, i.e. food after the farm gate with special reference to health and nutrition. Research Adviser involved liaising with agricultural research institutes and protecting agricultural R&D from government cuts.

The Foundation is an independent charity with the remit of helping to make Herefordshire into a sustainable county. It currently has programmes in land use, health and well-being and runs an MA course in sustainable advocacy. I am a member of Herefordshire Business Board, the Herefordshire Local Nature Partnership, the Herefordshire Sustainable Food and Farming Partnership and the Wye Catchment Management Partnership. I chair the Herefordshire Rural Forum.
