About

I’m a 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗹-𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗕𝗶𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗦𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 with a second major in 𝗕𝗶𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗕𝗶𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆, interested in how molecular disruptions cause disease and how we can better treat them. Over the years, I’ve built a solid wet-lab foundation through hands-on experience in 𝗺𝗮𝗺𝗺𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗹 𝗰𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲, 𝗗𝗡𝗔/𝗥𝗡𝗔 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗳𝗹𝗼𝘄𝘀 and 𝗳𝗹𝘂𝗼𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗰𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗶𝗺𝗮𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴. I’m comfortable 𝘁𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗲𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗼𝗰𝗼𝗹𝘀, 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝘁𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗶𝗾𝘂𝗲𝘀 𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗰𝗸𝗹𝘆 and 𝗱𝗿𝗮𝘄𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗺𝗲𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗼𝘁𝘆𝗽𝗲-𝘁𝗼-𝗽𝗵𝗲𝗻𝗼𝘁𝘆𝗽𝗲 𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗸𝘀 – skills that support strong translational research. My research foundation was built at 𝗧𝗲𝗺𝗮𝘀𝗲𝗸 𝗟𝗶𝗳𝗲 𝗦𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝗟𝗮𝗯𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆, where I studied the genetic basis of developmental timing in 𝘈𝘳𝘢𝘣𝘪𝘥𝘰𝘱𝘴𝘪𝘴. I ran full molecular workflows (DNA extraction, PCR, genotyping, Sanger sequencing, phenotyping) to investigate flowering-time regulators, supplying data that contributed to a 𝘗𝘭𝘢𝘯𝘵 𝘊𝘦𝘭𝘭 publication on florigen transport (doi: 10.1105/tpc.18.00960). This early exposure shaped how I approach questions of gene function, pathway mapping and phenotype interpretation. Later, at the 𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘁𝘂𝘁𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗽𝗼𝗿𝗲, I expanded into mammalian systems and gained experience in click-chemistry workflows, spatial imaging and CRISPRi workflows. Although spatial-omics was the focus, what stayed with me was the value of methodical protocol optimisation, assay troubleshooting and team-based translational work – skills highly transferable to disease-focused research. Outside the lab, I’ve also led operations in high-throughput, high-pressure environments, from coordinating staff at a national vaccination centre serving 1,300+ patients daily to onboarding new hires and analysing 500,000+ data points to streamline procurement. These roles built execution, communication and problem-solving skills I bring to any research team. I’m drawn to research that applies tools like CRISPR screening and functional genomics to map disease pathways and explore RNA-based therapeutic strategies. I'm seeking opportunities in disease biology or drug discovery where I can support research teams with my wet-lab and operational experience. Feel free to reach out: 𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗮𝘀.𝗹𝗮𝘄.𝘆𝗸@𝗴𝗺𝗮𝗶𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺

Strengthened the lab's spatial-omics platform by engineering a rapid (<1 hour) click-chemistry DNA-barcoding workflow that lifted live-cell labelling efficiency 8× and generated MERFISH-ready samples. Partnered with the Benson Chen Lab for potential use in 96-well CRISPRi screens, supporting spatial gene regulation studies. 🔬 Achieved robust 3-colour multiplexing (>95% cell viability) after 6 design-test cycles on IMR-90 and A549 cell lines, fine-tuning conditions to lock in the final workflow 🔬 Enhanced barcode retention >2× and sharpened multiplexed imaging by optimising hybridisation/wash steps and resolving signal drop-out issues

Advanced flowering-time research by characterising the plasma-membrane MCTP proteins QKY and SYP121 in 𝘈𝘳𝘢𝘣𝘪𝘥𝘰𝘱𝘴𝘪𝘴. A complete molecular-genetics pipeline and phenotypic screens supplied data for a 𝘗𝘭𝘢𝘯𝘵 𝘊𝘦𝘭𝘭 paper that identified the QKY–SYP121 MCTP-SNARE complex as an FT-transport hub driving long-day flowering. 🧬 Executed high-throughput PCR genotyping with lab-validated primer sets, achieving >95% unambiguous allele calls and kick-starting phenotyping ahead of schedule 🧬 Quantified mutant phenotypes: loss-of-function plants bolted ~12 days later and produced ~25% more rosette leaves than wild type under long days, confirming QKY and SYP121 as photoperiod-pathway regulators
