Facilitated groups of adult male clients to ensure the utmost safety and compliance with program policies and procedures, both in the field and on base. Documented the client’s daily food and water intake, participation in various therapy and group models, behavior patterns, social interactions, and treatment progress. Communicated with supervisors and co-staff to receive and update the agency departments on the group’s location in the wilderness and treatment progress. Transported and monitored the clients’ involvement in community outings such as volunteer activities and local recovery groups. Demonstrated de-escalation techniques in crisis prone situations, administered over the counter medication and first-aid, and provided a safe and stable atmosphere for clients experiencing substance recovery and detoxification.

Supervised and co-lead groups of 4-8 students through trails and campsites in the Pisgah National Forest while ensuring the physical and emotional safety of the group and leave no trace camping principles. -Monitored individual and group interactions to promote the students’ goals for success as described in their clinical treatment plans and daily and weekly progress notes. -Planned and discussed progress through the program with clinicians and therapists to assess and update the students treatment needs. -Co-facilitated and supported a child family reunion during the graduation ceremony via group interactions and activities.

Allocated over 660 internship hours under the supervision of professionally licensed instructors and clinical therapists. Lead group therapy with groups of 8-12-year-old children and groups of teenagers which included creative art, psycho-education, life skills, health and movement, and relaxation topics. Retained an individual case load of up to five clients to provide individual therapy, case management services, participation in CFT’s, communication with parents, updated clinical assessments, and timely discharge planning.

Children’s Focus Group Facilitator (2013-2014) co-facilitated and engaged groups of multi-cultural children in developing positive communication and coping skills in supportive, interactive, environments through age-appropriate group activities and topic discussions. Crisis Lines and Speakers Bureau Volunteer (2012) Annual Holiday Bazaar (December 2011-2013) decorated and organized thousands of toys and gift baskets for the Interact clients, while entertaining and guiding the children through the gift wrapping stations.

Allocated over 560 internship hours under the supervision of two licensed counselors and clinical social workers, while working on two acute psychiatric units with a total 24 adult person and bed occupancy. -Conducted daily group therapy sessions, individual psychosocial and chemical dependency assessments, family contacts, and discharge planning for patients with a variety of co-morbid mental disorders and after-care treatment regiments. -Maintained positive communication standards via hospital progress notes and participated in treatment team meetings with the medical psychiatric doctors, nurses, therapists, and mental health technicians. -Engaged outpatient providers to discharge plan with patients for a multitude of after-care and psychiatric appointment services, including group homes, ACTT Teams, homeless shelters, guardianship supervision, and long term state hospitalizations, based on the patients’ insurance, financial, and social resources.
