Growing massive amounts of seaweed and finding more ways for people to use it - is something we love doing at Sea6. From boosting the worlds agricultural output to displacing single use plastics to replacing fossil fuels - these humble sea plants have a lot to teach us - all while pulling out carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. We work on building technologies to grow these plants on a massive scale on the ocean - and help seaweed farmers make the most of their piece of Ocean. This involves systems to mechanize all farming operations offshore, correlating weather and ocean data with seaweed growth, developing farm best practices and understanding the biology of the plant to maximize productivity. We also work in setting up these farms across different locations - right from identifying promising locations, building independent teams, and putting in processes to seamlessly blend in technology into seaweed farm management. Tropical seaweed farming still lags far behind land based agriculture - and it has been a wonderful journey engaging with various experts to bring solutions into the field - and inventing brand new ones with the help of a highly talented multidisciplinary team.
