Established SC’s financial management monitoring activities through on-site visits to SC field offices and partner organizations to review their accounting systems and financial procedures, and to provide technical assistance in the grants management. Developed a new financial structure, including a revised chart of accounts, to implement a cost analysis system for enhanced management decision-making. Designed and conducted financial managers’ training workshops for overseas office management and staff. Implemented new chart of accounts in field offices, leading to improve the financial reporting to headquarters. Reviewed spending patterns and financial reports to funders, particularly under restricted grants; coordinated spending with program department heads and trained managers on financial issues affecting their budgets.

Collaborated with the Director of Finance in the oversight and monitoring of the financial operations of the Latin America Caribbean Region (LACR) for an operating budget of up to $33M, to ensure the quality of the region’s accounting processes through monitoring divisional and departmental accounting transactions. Coordinated the financial administration of all government-funded projects within LACR. Supervised two Grants Specialists, providing managerial support and technical expertise in the disbursement, recording and reporting of government funds. Implemented the region’s subrecipient monitoring activities through on-site visits to partner organizations to review and audit their financial systems, and through the provision of technical assistance in financial management to these organizations. Led regional and divisional training initiatives, workshops and seminars in Latin America for finance, auditing and accounting staff from partner organizations.
