Engineering Technology Development Program (ETDP - Rotation 1)
Raleigh, North Carolina, United States
EE Hardware Design and Testing Lead, Single Phase Industrial Uninterruptible Power Supply • Led electrical hardware design engineering and testing efforts for the FX Series 12.5kVA Ferroresonant UPS project • Determined test requirements, developed test plans, performed test setup, carried out testing, and documented results for Design Verification Testing • Analyzed testing results to develop engineering solutions through BOM changes, firmware changes, and component addition • Supported and worked with cross-functional teams including mechanical hardware, firmware, validation, quality, service, manufacturing, and marketing to drive engineering redesigns and firmware developments • Mentored electrical hardware engineer and firmware engineering contractor through establishing test plans and developing trainings in the lab to enable them to aid in development of the project

Engineering & Technology Intern
Warrendale, Pennsylvania, United States
Developed software for Eaton Electric Vehicle - Energy Management Circuit Breaker (EV-EMCB) applications. EV-EMCB is an Intelligent Power Management solution for Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging using innovative circuit breaker technology. EV-EMCB is an AC level 2 charger capable of charging cars at 7.7KW level. EV-EMCB car compatibility testing – used Eaton's new portable EV- EMCB test box to assess compatibility of the EV-EMCB charger with various EV models provided by Eaton employee volunteers. Goal of this is to complete a full suite of early field tests in order to feed the results into the next revision of EV hardware and firmware (one of the critical path areas for the EV project).

Power Systems Controls Intern
Warrendale, PA
• Developed a ground-up microgrid distributed energy resource (DER) emulator using inexpensive hardware (Raspberry Pi and Logic CL200 linux computers) and Python code to emulate a generator, solar inverter, and energy management system (consisting of a battery management system and inverter) for the purpose of training and testing of Eaton's Power Xpert Energy Optimizer microgrid control system • Upgraded a switchgear Main-Tie-Main (MTM) Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) system to Eaton’s latest product involving working with Eaton’s Visual Designer to upgrade touchscreen interface, Codesys to upgrade PLC program, and rewiring and integration of new system

Teaching Assistant
Greater Pittsburgh Area
• Course Title: Art of Hands-on System Design and Engineering • Assisted in classroom exercises teaching “hands-on” systems design thinking, human-centered design principles, rapid prototyping, problem identification, user outreach, and fabrication techniques (cutting, drilling, tapping, soldering, low resolution/low cost design work) • Led class instruction of multiple design technology and prototyping platforms including: Arduino microcontrollers, littleBits, wearable technology, and Makey-Makey technology • Mentored and assisted students with development of their own projects through technical instruction

Power Systems Automation Intern
Warrendale, Pennsylvania
• Developed a ground-up Android application for the alarms portion of Eaton’s Foreseer monitoring system, with features including real-time updates of alarms list from the server, alarm details, alarm sorting, and capability to acknowledge and rearm alarms, all of which matched the look, feel, and current functionality of the web based Foreseer system • Developed a load bank controller for the Power System Experience Center’s (PSEC) Data Center demo using Eaton’s Visual Designer software • Implemented animated bus into the oneline diagram for the PSEC Foreseer system on the Power Quality Lab oneline and the Microgrid oneline, giving visual demonstration of which busses and feeds are hot • Reviewed multiple technical drawings for 4 different VADATA hyperscale data center project sites • Completed device driver validations for the TSM-900, TC-50, and IQ Analyzer 6600, and 21 CyTime Sequence of Events Recorder (SER) firmware and PTP licensing updates • Increased working knowledge of serial and Ethernet communications and protocols as well as Eaton devices including the PXG 900, PXM 250/260/2000, PXM 4000/6000/8000, TSM-900, TC-50, and IQA 6600
