Preparation of project proposal - “Strengthening multi-sectoral, cross-institutional coordination in Rio Convention implementation through targeted institutional strengthening and professional development“ in accordance with GEF policies and procedures and meets the standards of the GEF Project Review Criteria for PDF Block A approval. Managing the project, recruiting consultants, ensuring provision and administration of all project inputs; updating and regular reviewing of the project work plan; organizing project activities in order to achieve the project outputs and performing other tasks aimed at the successful implementation of the project.

Contribution to the preparation of National Programming Framework in the scope of Central Asian Countries Initiative for Land Management (CACILM). Reviewing existing government policies, institutional arrangements at the national and sub-national levels, and the implications for sustainable land management, food security, poverty and gender aspects and making recommendations for appropriate adjustments to create improved conditions for the poor and women.

Coordinate international scientific-cooperation activities of NIGMI, including interaction with WMO, WHO, UNDP, UNEP, GEF, UNCCD, UNESCO and other international organizations and programs. Organize and participate in development of scientific programs and projects jointly with other scientific institutes and international organizations. Provide the staff of the Institute with the information about international meetings and program administration. Handle correspondence in English and Russian; organize international meetings, round tables and provide all travel arrangements for visitors. Facilitate activities of Uzhydromet on coordination of Environmental Convention implementation in Uzbekistan (namely UNCCD, UNFCCC). Assistance to National GEF Operational Focal Point in activities on coordination of GEF project implementation in Uzbekistan

* In the scope of National Capacity Needs Self-Assessment for Global Environmental Management (NCSA) project: * Coordinate activities on developing and submitting detailed plan on capacity assessment in the area of combat desertification and land degradation. * Collect information on existing and on-going capacity development activities in the desertification/land degradation area. * Carry out stakeholders’ consultation. * Met regularly with the national thematic experts on the matter to incorporate their knowledge into the analysis. * Preparation of national thematic report on UN Convention on Combat Desertification (UNCCD) inclusive (i) inventory of the previous and current activities in the area of capacity building; (ii) analysis of capacity building needs, its constraint factors, and also measures and steps taken to solve priority problems in the thematic areas: climate change, biodiversity conservation and desertification.
