Always having an entrepreneurial spirit, it was fulfilling to renovate properties in the Golden Triangle and Sandy Hill areas, while handling implementations of various legislative and procedural federal program changes. Ultimately, this led to branching out into private industry and establishing a marble and granite business named for the Roman goddess of hearth and home, Vesta. Growing a family and business in Ottawa, also meant enjoying coaching and umpiring Little League and devoting a few years to volunteering as a minor hockey convener, while evolving family company. From the three companies in the Ottawa Marble and Granite business in the 80s, Vesta is the only vibrant one left and will continue to operate for many years to come due to the commitment of not only the ownership but the employees. Originally, a primarily bench-made production shop for customised stone creations in Ottawa, Vesta’s clients have included, the Canadian Museum of Nature, the Governor General’s Rideau Hall, the National Gallery of Canada, and specialty builders. With the expansion of stone requirements in the housing market, the first expansion with CNC mechanisation, set up with waste and water re-cycling was followed, two years later, with a second expansion into a third building. In 2015, Vesta amalgamated all functions under one roof while expanding to meet the continually growing demands. It also continues to improve manufacturing through shop floor layout, workflow, and machinery. Vesta relies on state of the art equipment, knowledge of traditional fabrication techniques,and experienced craftsmen to manufacture and service the counter top and custom fabrication markets in Ottawa and area. The current facility, includes an eight thousand square foot design showroom showcasing various bathroom experiences and kitchen setups including a fully functional kitchen suited to hosting and a self-contained "condo" living area.
