Dr. Nasser Aljehani, MBA

I am a senior executive and advisor with a distinguished track record in health insurance, clinical informatics, healthcare delivery, quality and policy reform in Saudi Arabia. With a medical degree from King Saud University and board certifications in Family Medicine, Medical Quality, and Clinical Informatics, I bridge the gap between clinical practice and strategic healthcare management. Currently, I serve as Senior Advisor to the CEO at Tawuniya, providing high-level strategic counsel, shaping organizational goals, and driving transformation initiatives. Previously, I held the same role at the Insurance Authority, and before that, I played a pivotal part in reforming the health insurance ecosystem at the Council of Health Insurance (CHI). At CHI, I served as Spokesperson, Chief Medical Officer, Executive Director of Enablement and Supervision, and Deputy Chief Medical Officer. In these positions, I led the implementation of The National Platform for Health and Insurance Exchange Services (NPHIES), oversaw regulatory compliance, drove quality improvement, ensured provider adherence to standards, and spearheaded health system enablement programs—directly impacting population health strategies, cost containment, and fraud prevention. My leadership in digital transformation began at King Fahad Medical City, where I directed the implementation of the EPIC electronic health record system—one of Saudi Arabia’s largest health IT projects. I also contributed as Model of Care Lead for the Second Health Cluster in Riyadh, where I championed data-driven healthcare models using AI and predictive analytics. Internationally trained, I completed my residency in Family Medicine at Texas Tech University, served as Chief Resident, and later advanced my expertise in clinical informatics at The Ohio State University. I also hold an MBA from the Isenberg School of Management, University of Massachusetts Amherst, and completed executive programs at Harvard Business School in general management and healthcare economics. Beyond my executive roles, I actively contribute to scientific literature, publishing research on obesity-related costs, diabetes prevalence, and therapeutic inertia. I am a member of prominent medical organizations including the American Medical Informatics Association, HIMSS, and the American Academy of Family Physicians. As a strategic thinker and effective communicator, I combine clinical insight with system-level thinking to improve healthcare delivery, strengthen insurance regulation, and support national health objectives in Saudi Arabia.
