About

Photography has been my primary artistic outlet for nearly three decades. In the early 90s, I opened a portrait studio photographing and printing exclusively in black and white (film). Architectural photography followed before I transitioned to landscape. I am a self-taught photographer and used 35mm and medium format film cameras, before making the leap to digital. To learn the fundamentals of digital photography and post-processing, and to enhance my skills, I attended workshops with John Sexton, Bruce Barnbaum, Phillip Hyde, Tillman Crane and Linde Waidehofer. I have a profound appreciation of our natural world. This came about through another business I owned – Travel Audios, which produced audio tours of U.S. National Parks. Frequent travels to places of exceptional beauty developed in me a deep respect for, and a nuanced understanding of, our natural world. These experiences, combined with photographic technical skills and a keen eye, have taught me to communicate visually what I see and feel in the landscape. I believe in the restorative effects of nature on the human spirit. Our goal for use in the healthcare setting is to ease the stress, pain and anxiety of patients, their families and caregivers, through the positive visual distraction that comes from viewing scenes of nature. Although we aim primarily at the healthcare industry, we also offer more "abstract" photographic art in our Corporate Art section. These images are more suitable (and desirable) for corporate and hospitality environments.

In 1996 I started Travel Audios, a company that has promoted public awareness and appreciation for the natural beauty and complexity of America’s National Parks through the production of audio tours. I worked closely with the National Park Service and their Natural History Associations to refine and deliver their message to their public. Each of my six products in the national park series features interviews with park rangers and experts – the “voice” of the park. The tours are professionally narrated and include music and nature sounds. They are authoritative, entertaining and park-approved. They are now available for download on Audible.com.
