Nancy Kohout P.E. LEED AP

Nancy Kohout, P.E., LEED AP, is a US engineering leader dedicated to advancing decarbonization and high‑performance building systems. Nancy drives innovative engineering system strategies that elevate sustainability and accelerate progress toward low‑carbon futures. She currently serves as Illinois ASHRAE president. Her leadership is further demonstrated through her role on the ExCom of ASHRAE’s Center of Excellence for Building Decarbonization and voting membership on ASHRAE TC 6.8, where she helps shape industry standards for geothermal and heat recovery technologies. Nancy also contributed to national climate action through her work with the U.S. Department of Energy’s Better Climate Challenge, advising major healthcare, public sector, and multifamily real estate portfolio owners on achieving ambitious emissions‑reduction goals. In addition, she founded the Women in ASHRAE Leadership Symposium, championing leadership development and elevating diverse voices within the engineering community.
