Within her senior year Myra Parker applied and ran a campaign to become Miss University of North Carolina. As a transfer student, from a community college in New Bern North Carolina this was a challenging task. However, Parker, was immensely involved on campus, and had experience in running a campaign as a former Homecoming queen at New Bern High School. Mister and Miss UNC must have petition signatures, and the most number of votes by the student body to show that they exemplify the Carolina way in leadership, scholarship, and service. Parker received the highest number of votes from the entire student body in the Miss UNC category during all rounds of voting. In this role, Miss UNC also has to cultivate a service project. Parker's focused on food insecurity and and interdisciplinary approach with 3 Peas pillars (Policy, Packing, and Persistence)
