Involved in the development of novel media and stationary phases for HPLC coulmns as a part of Agilent Cross Lab R&D Team. Carried out synthesis work by developing novel silane coupling reagents to bond organic functionalities to inorgnic oxides such as silica and/or polysiloxane polymers. Worked independently in a team based enviornment and collaborated closely with other chemists and chemical engineers to successfully transition R&D processes to manufacturing scales.

* Led the project which has bio-based starting material Glucose then using chemical steps converted to monomer which of high end value. Used in application for electronics and also ship cladding. * Also involved in synthesizing new potential stain resist material. * For both projects various derivatives and functional groups were made. * Knowledge in the area of polymer science, synthesis and characterization and vacuum distillation to get the pure product. * Achieved publication by synthesizing compounds for Antimicrobial beta peptoids project. Includes reaction optimization for preparation of mimetics of natural antimicrobial peptoids for evaluation in Antimicrobial screens.

Carried out multistep Organic Synthesis developing active Herbicides for Crop protection business. Followed literature references and Patents and generated leads. Area of research includes Chemistry related to Tetrazolinone it’s scouting, novel left side Thiophenes, Oxidiazolinone, trizolinone, novel right side e.g trifluoromethylcyclohexyl carbamyl chlorides. Also scouted in areas of Thiazole analogs, Pyrimidines, Thiadiazoles and Trizolinone. Also involved in group to make scale up compound for field study. Work involved setting up reaction, workup, it’s purification using crystallization, column Chromatography to isolate pure product. Used ISIS draw, ISIS Base and CBCH software for searching reaction, Chemical and drawing structures. Prepared weekly updates and presented to the group. Work led to 5 U.S Patents. Used NMR, IR instruments for structure elucidation of compounds.

* Supported research project by synthesizing compounds for development of polysaccharide based biomaterials for biomedical application called Actamax technology. * Developed dual component water soluble biomaterial molecule that cross links to make gel, molecule characterization, testing on animal body part, gel test. * Proficient in carrying out reaction by ozonalysis to get to target molecule. * Under minimal guidance, conducted experiments, workup and purification and required analytical work for the project. * Optimized reaction, suggested alternative approaches and methodologies. * Carried out literature search used Scifinder for reaction molecule search. * Involved in writing technical experimental procedures for progress report on project. * Other project involving modification of microsphere by modifying using hydrophobic groups for embolic applications to get mixed functionality. Various analogs were prepared and tested.

Long term career in Research & Development working for DuPont. During my career I was involved in supporting many different projects. My area of expertise include Synthetic Organic Chemistry, process research, formulation, polymer chemistry. I am also experienced in operation of project related instruments like IR, HPLC, UV-Vis spectrophotometer etc. Previous experience also includes working in pharmaceutical industry as an Analytical Chemist analyzing broad range of pharmaceutical and veterinary products using U.S.P and British Pharmacopoeia.

Carried out research project in Life Science group. Worked as contract position doing Catalytic Oxidation by Ozonation of waste water oxidizing phenolic compounds. Also involved in two other projects doing analytical work like COD, analysis of metals.
